CCM in the Schools For 14 years, CCM's ability to impact our boys has been limited to Saturdays. Virtually all of our organized programming occurs on Saturdays - until now. In March 2010, we initiated the CCM in the Schools Pilot Program at Fernwood and Copernicus Elementary Schools. For four days per week at Fernwood (Dr. Deborah Heath, Principal) and two days per week at Copernicus (Dr. Lynn Garner, Principal), CCM volunteers are providing instruction in Math (James Wilson), Physical Fitness (Sean Armstead) and Martial Arts (Shihan Larry Tankson), and dispensing wisdom and direction in Our Life Skills, Personal Health and Mentoring Sessions. The program at Copernicus is after school from 3-5, but we start as early as 1:15 with our Math program at Fernwood so we are integrated into the school day. Early reports from Project Coordinator Dr. James Miles are extremely promising. We hope to be in 12 CPS Elementary schools by the end of the next school year.
